Free Is Good, Right?

I’ve finished setting up the basic design of freewavesamples.com today. It’s a site where people can download free .wav samples to use in music projects or in anything else where they would want or need sounds. I’ve been building the site for about a week and a half and was surprised today to find that it ranks #9 out of 20 million for the term free wave samples and #1 of 77 for “free wave samples”. I guess I’ve figured out a little bit about legitimate search engine optimization. I’m no master, but that’s not bad.
I also built about half of a “chord calculator” application which takes a key and scale and calculates what chords are available in that key. It may take a while to fine-tune because I’ll need to find out all of the obscure names for chords nobody uses for completion’s sake. I’ve been neglecting and/or ignoring app development because I’ve been focused on getting my main websites started (not to mention just wanting to be away from it for a bit after leaving DSCI.) I have an uber-app rattling around in my head that will have to wait until after the calculator is done, but it’ll totally rock.
Yesterday ended up being my second best day ever traffic-wise thanks to the stumbleupon that hit AlgoRhythmia 3. As of today my sites have had more hits this month than all of last month combined - and ten days to go. The ads on my sites haven’t been doing as well, but with luck I’ll have a few registrations of AlgoRhythmia. It’s so cool I’m sure some people will want the full version.
