All Possible Worlds No Longer Publishing
Oct 23rd, 2007 by Xangis
I actually announced this a few days ago on the site, but now that APW #2 has been released, we won’t be publishing any more issues.
Nevermind that we’ve already bought enough content to publish issue #3 (not counting story artwork). The amount of time and money involved in layout, printing, shipping, requisitioning artwork, promoting, reading more submissions, etc. still make every day that APW isn’t shut down a losing proposition.
Sure, it’s a cool magazine with good content, but the chance of it becoming profitable AND earning back all of the costs required to run it during the unprofitable stages before I have a meltdown are next to nil.
Like they say in the stock market, it’s better to cut your losses sooner rather than later. I learned a lot from the project and had some good fun, but it’s time to put it away so I can move on to other things and spend more time on the parts of Zeta Centauri, Inc. that are more likely to generate non-negative numbers in the income department. At least I know what’s involved in starting a magazine and what the process is to take it from idea to profitability. I may just write up a how-to ebook on the subject.
Even so, there are plenty of copies of #1 and #2 still available, so it couldn’t hurt to grab a copy if you’re curious.
