So up until today I had a Washington Mutual credit card. I’ve had it since around
2000, when it was issued by Providian to an irresponsible kid with well below
average credit. Well, this kid behaved and maintained good standing on his $500
credit card well enough that 8 years later it was a $10,500 credit […]

October was the best month I’ve had yet for Adsense earnings, posting 36% over the previous two months’ averages. Although that amount still is just barely enough to cover hosting and domain expenses and is less than 2% of living expenses, it’s still encouraging to see such an increase.
Since traffic has only increased by 16%, […]

I recently bought a copy of Peachtree By Sage Pro Accounting 2007, extremely on sale because 2008 was just about to be released. Since then I’ve been entering the scattered check receipts, Excel worksheets, Paypal transactions, and miscellaneous purchases from the past year. I don’t know what surprised me more — what a […]

The results for April 2007 are in:
Google Adsense Revenue: $9.01
Software Sales: $45.00 (2 copies of AlgoRhythmia 3)
Magazine Sales: 19 single copies and 3 subscriptions.
Software plus Adsense has generated enough income to cover 4% of my living expenses for the month. Result: failure to survive in April.
Magazine sales have gone toward purchasing new material for future […]

It was an 11-hour-long tax form session.
The tax system is unbearably and unnecessarily complicated and I’m pretty sure it doesn’t do anyone any good to have it that complicated - at least not those paying or receiving the taxes, it’s just the intermediaries that benefit.
Why was it so rough?
Last summer I had a severe garage […]

So, for the month of March, here are my results:
All Possible Worlds: 7 subscription sales, 17 single issue sales (brings the total to 11 subs and 19 singles counting preorders)
Google Ads: $9.61 with just over 14k page impressions. Google terms of service prevent me from giving any more info than that, but […]

I’ve been working on making some deals with pulp magazine publishers to get some stock into PulpSource. So far everyone I’ve chatted with (via email) has been pretty open to the idea of opening an online small press magazine (and eventually book) shop. I’ve even had more than one offer of ad exchanges […]

In the past couple days I’ve read a huge amount of stories for All Possible Worlds. In fact, catch-up might not run too much beyond this submission period, which ends 4/15.
Speaking of 4/15, I’m going to have to do taxes pretty soon. It’ll be really ugly since my garage burnt down over the […]

I’d like to be able to say how many hours I worked today, but I don’t really know. I think, with the exception of food and restroom breaks, it would be “all of them” (depending upon whether you count research and education as work).
I spent a lot of the day reading the Warrior Forum. […]

Up until now I’ve been a complete poseur, but now I am officially trying to survive without a job.
Last month my total income from ads, software sales, and the “tip jar” for freeware applications on zetacentauri.com came to a total of 5% of my monthly living expenses. That doesn’t exactly equate to survival, but […]
